Kinja'd!!!

Made some jam from the wild blackberries that grow around my house.

Over the past few weeks I’ve been gathering them as they ripened.

Kinja'd!!!

Not quite ready

Kinja'd!!!

READY!

Kinja'd!!!

I froze them until I got enough to do something with them.

Kinja'd!!!

Then thawed them out over low heat.

Kinja'd!!!

Once they are all nice and softened up into the sifter they go.

Kinja'd!!!

Grandma’s sifter still holding its own.

Kinja'd!!!

The sifter gets out a lot of the seeds, but there are always a few million stragglers.

Kinja'd!!!

Got the pectin and water heating up.

Kinja'd!!!

Pouring time!

Kinja'd!!!

1 quart of berries got me three 160z jars. Not bad.

That’s a very early crop. We don’t have them until August.

I’m not really sure if this is early for them or not here. Everything else seemed to have gotten a late start because of the weird ass winter this year.

Have you made jam before? Was it to your liking, or is there something you’ll do different next time?

Since I can't have any I must harass you with questions.

Have you made jam before?

I have, but not since my grandmother was alive. Been about 20 years then. It came back pretty quick.

Was it to your liking, or is there something you’ll do different next time?

It most certainly was. The only thing differently I’ll do is promote the growth of more berries to increase jam quantities.

Excellent.

I like your focusing on that sifter.

An excellent strategy.

I’m a lowcarber, so I have no business in the jam ‘less it’s made with stevia.

I guess you can’t argue with the two most sagest sages in sci-fi.

No cheat days? :(

Only when on vacay .

And even most of the people with whom I’m on vacay know I’m a lowcarber.

(But a fun one. I became one when the choice was to “diet” for family history health reasons or to give up wine & cheese. I was like “Bump that noise”.)

I guess you can’t argue with the two most sagest sages in sci-fi.

I knew if I was going to bring you and your three Nikons (!!!) an opposing proposition with any heft I’d better bring out the big guns.

:-D
